The Shining Star in February is EndAbuse Wisconsin for their support in our mission through a grant they gave us. The grant is specifically geared toward working with the youth to teach and advocate against domestic violence.

With this grant, we have been working with youth in the community to equip them with the knowledge to prevent them from becoming victims of human trafficking and domestic violence. Our youth have been included in the 2018 Teen Summit that is teaching topics focused on healthy relationships, teen dating, sexual violence, and how it affects youth.

The Stars that Shines in February is Nicole, our new front end administrator. She has stepped up to help us manage day to day administrative activities along with tabling events, assisting Nancy with the youth at the 2018 Teen Summit, and being a general jane of all trades! Thank you Nicole for committing your time and talents while overcoming adversity!

The Shining Stars this month are the League of Legal Professionals. They donated over 50 filled purses, gift cards, toiletries, and money to support and sustain our mission! We are blessed to have faithful and caring groups like this to help make survivors within the community we serve.

The Star that Shines is Effie Truchon. She has a heart filled with compassion and love for the people we serve and a desire to make a difference in our community. Effie is bringing fresh and creative solutions to the table to create sustainable resources and educate our clients on how to create a healthy life. Effie feels a real connection to the mission of Fresh Start Learning and we are so happy she is helping us be #StrongerTogether!

The Shining Star this month is the Youth Summit sponsored by EndAbuse Wisconsin. The summit focused on youth from southeastern Wisconsin and hosted workshops on art/music/technology/media and how they play a role in violence. There were many conversations about healthy relationships, teen dating, sexual violence and how it affects youth, speaking up about sexual abuse, supporting friends in difficult relationships and so much more. These educational summits are key in preventing violence, sexual and otherwise.

The Stars that Shine are the 8 youth who participated in the Youth summit. The youth were very respectful and appreicative for the opportunity to engage with this summit. Some comments from the youth:

"I started thinking no one would understand my hurt or my situation or even the way that I am but because of Fresh start Learning, I know I'm not the only one or not alone."

"Thank you for allowing us to share our experiences."

"Thank you so much for bringing me and the other teens to Wisconsin Dells. We are learning so much from being here like dating abuse and what sexting is and we also got to hear other peoples stories."

The Shining Stars in January are all the riders from Santa Cycle Rampage! This is an annual event and this year they included Fresh Start Learning Inc. as an organization to receive donations.

The Stars that Shine in January are Erika and Brittany for choosing to intern at Fresh Start Learning Inc. as they completed their college degrees. Erika helped Fresh Start build a marketing and sustainable giving strategy and has graduated with her Bachelor degree in Business Management. Brittany has completed her Social Work degree and is now working as a part time Front-End Administrator for Fresh Start Learning Inc.
